Rehberg Talks to Chamber

By Sarah Gravlee

BILLINGS - Representative Denny Rehberg, a Republican from Montana, said the economy is not in trouble and Washington is working hard to keep it that way.

Rehberg attended the monthly board meeting of the Billings Chamber of Commerce Monday. He said the current economy is similar to the Chicago Bulls basketball team in that it's in a rebuilding phase, but he said Montana is not likely to feel much from the potential recession.

"We're moving just as quickly as we possibly can to try and stimulate," he said. "But we have to remember, the government doesn't create jobs; businesses do. So my message to the Billings Chamber of Commerce is keep doing what you do so very well."

Chamber members also heard a presentation from superintendent of Billings Public Schools, Jack Copps, about the importance of the mill levy request. They also presented a community recognition award to the Billings Symphony Orchestra and Chorale.
