Mad Cow Disease

By KULR Staff

CANADA - A case of mad cow disease has been confirmed in Canada. It's the 11th Canadian case since it was first discovered in 2003.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says no part of the cow's carcass entered the human food or animal feed chains. The animal was identified by the National Monitoring Program as a 13-year-old cow from Alberta.
The program targets cattle most at risk and has tested about 190,000 animals since 2003. The animal was from an unidentified farm, and was born before the implementation of Canada's feed ban in 1997.
Members of the Montana Cattlemen's Association say they're concerned about the international trade implications the latest case will have on the U.S.
