Winter in Yellowstone National Park

BILLINGS - If you feel like braving the cold this winter, Yellowstone National Park will be opening Wednesday the 19th.
Guides can take park-goers on snowmobile and snowcoach trips to places like Old Faithful and the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. Officials will be allowing up to 720 snowmobiles a day into the park, and all will be commercially guided.
Park employees are busy grooming the roads and making sure things are safe for the opening. Al Nash of public relations for the park says, "A successful avalanche mitigation mission was conducted on Wednesday and our staff is out working to make the most of our existing snow pack".
Currently there is between 12 inches and 18 inches of snow throughout the park, which is typical for the winter season.
