Cowboys Wear Pink

By Madelyn Jarrett

BILLINGS - Friday night at the Nile Rodeo some of the cowboys sported the color pink to raise money for a serious cause. The event is called "Tough Enough to Wear Pink" and it raises money for breast cancer prevention.
It's not a cause you would think would go with rodeos and cowboys, but we talked to the general manager of the Nile rodeo and he says it is an issue more and more rodeos are taking on. Friday night the Nile donated one dollar of every ticket sold, which was about 5,000, to help prevent breast cancer.
They also sold pink bandanas in conjunction with Saint Vincent's and raised more money through an auction and donations. The competitors were encouraged to wear pink for the night and many spectators came sporting the color as well. Organizers say their numbers are up from last year when they raised $15,000 dollars, but they don't know what the official dollar amount is yet.
