NILE Economic Impact

By Arianne Rapkoch

BILLINGS - Rodeo fans from across the region and the country are coming to the Billings area for cowboy action, and in the process they're spending a lot of cash. The NILE has been around for 40 years. People keep coming back and new faces keep showing up.
"No Vacancy" signs are lit on most hotels and shops, and restaurants are getting an energy boost. Hotel managers say this is the perfect time, because business is slowing down after the summer tourist season. Officials at the Chamber of Commerce say the money that comes in from these large events benefits the entire community.
Visitor Director Joan Kronebusch says, "Not just to the business owner or the mall makes money, but the employees and the employees families are also, it's a trickle down affect." There's no way to predict numbers at this point, but this week the Metra has been a busy place. Local business managers just say they are thrilled that, once again, the NILE is in town.
