COLUMBUS - A jury finds a Stillwater County man guilty of the October slaying of his neighbor.

Prosecutors charged Jeffrey Hardman with deliberate homicide. They said he killed his neighbor Michael Blattie on October 15th of 2009 over a $35 debt.

Hardman said he only meant to intimidate Blattie with the gun. He said Blattie grabbed for pistol when he pulled it out, and that it fired during the ensuing struggle.

Tuesday, a forensic pathologist took the stand. He said Hardman's version of events is a remote possibility, but unlikely given the pattern of gun residue found on Michael Blattie.

The prosecution began making their case Monday, and the decision came mere hours after the case went to the jury Wednesday afternoon.

Hardman faces up to life in prison.

I believe that in their hearts they know it was a accident, and that their son had a bad temper! And that it happened just like Hardman said it happened...

I hope this brings some closure and some peace of mind to you Betty, Harold and family.
