BILLINGS - The people of Sidney are mourning the loss of Sherry Arnold. The healing process begins, even though residents know very little about her disappearance.

Forty-three-year-old Sherry Arnold was a well-respected teacher, mother, and dear friend to many. "She was a go-getter, a great teacher, and just a very nice down-to-earth person," longtime Sidney resident; Joy Johnson said.

Johnson attended a press conference Friday afternoon to learn the facts about Sherry's disappearance. "It's nice to know that they have a couple of people detained, but that still leaves you with questions as to what happened and why," Johnson said.

A 47-year-old man and a 22-year-old man are being held in Williston, North Dakota, on aggravated kidnapping charges. Both are in connection with Sherry Arnold's disappearance. Officials with Williams County Jail said the two men were booked on Friday. "We didn't learn a lot. But, it's good to know that there are things going on, and I came because I wanted firsthand information. We're in a small town. There's a lot of stories that can get started, and I wanted to hear things firsthand," Chamber of Commerce Executive Director of Agriculture; Wade Every said.

Later Friday night, nearly 200 people gathered at the Sidney High School for a prayer vigil. "You who have been touched by her, and the way she lived her life and how she touched your life, will turn around and do the same for others. Nobody can take that from you. No perpetrator on the face of this earth can take those things from you," one religious leader said.

Students said they couldn't believe that Mrs. Arnold was gone. "I'm glad that everyone is coming together, and I think it's making our community stronger. But, I'm just in shock and overwhelmed that something like this could happen here to such a great person," student; Tori Getchell said.

"It's just one of those situations where you just don't even know what you have until it's gone. She was such an amazing teacher," former student; Tess Finnicum said.

Officials said the investigation is rapidly moving forward. Police said they received information about the two men in connection with Sherry Arnold's disappearance from an anonymous phone call to the Sidney High School at 9:30 a.m. Friday.
