Police Comment on Prostitution Sentencing

BILLINGS - A judge has sentenced Gregory McFarland and Myong Suk "Suzie" McFarland to 13 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. They had pleaded guilty to interstate promotion of prostitution and money laundering.

Gregory, age 52, and "Suzie," age 62, were operating two massage parlors in Billings, the Far West Sauna and the Shangri-La Spa and Sauna. A lengthy investigation by Billings police shut down their operations.

"There are numerous Asian spas around town. A lot of them are conducting legitimate business, and some not so," said Billings Police Chief Rich St. John. "We may have proactive investigations, but we're not so naïve to think that that's not taking place."

The Federal Bureau of Prisons will decide which facility the McFarlands will go to within 30 to 90 days. The couple will forfeit more than $1.2 million in profits under a plea agreement with prosecutors.

I'd like to see repeat DUI offenders get this kind of sentence.
