Man In Custody For Double Homicide

BILLINGS - A 20-year-old Billings man is being held on two counts of deliberate homicide.

The bodies of the two women were discovered Sunday morning after one of the victims failed to show up for work. Billings detectives are continuing their investigation into the case, meanwhile neighbors of the suspect are in shock.

"This doesn't happen around here, so I don't know, I just don't know," says one neighbor. This seems to be the theme of neighbors’ reactions, who don't know what to think after the arrest of 20-year-old Andrew Scott Denning, who lives nearby.

The Billings man is being charged with two counts of deliberate homicide after two women were found dead inside a Billings West End apartment Sunday morning. Billings police discovered the bodies after one of the victims failed to show up for work.

"Officers knocked on the door and couldn't get a response, so we contacted the apartment manager. He gave us a key to enter the apartment and discovered there were two female bodies inside," says Lieutenant Kevin Iffland with the Billings Police Department.

Officials say the victims are 21-year-old and 22-year-old sisters, one of whom lived in the apartment where the crime took place. Police say Denning knew the victims. "It's not a random act, from what we've determined, these people were acquaintances so it's not just a random act of violence out there, it was very deliberate," says Iffland.

Some pictures pulled from the Facebook page of Andrew Denning seem to be somewhat violent, showing him holding knives. Still, Denning's neighbors say they were shocked to hear that he is being charged in the case.

"Yes, I know Andrew, he's just a neighbor kid. I've never had any trouble with him, he's always been a good kid to us."

Police are not saying how the women died. Autopsy results are expected to be released Tuesday. Meanwhile, Denning is being held at the Yellowstone County Detention Facility, and awaits his first court appearance as early as Tuesday.

The media always makes people look bad. Its for ratings.

Why didm;t they show some of the other picures on his facebook... like the ones of him holding his new born baby girl? If you look at the one with a giant sword it is in first national pawn and he is a huge nerd like alot of us. I have no clue if he is guilty or not, but the media needs to stop making suspects look so bad...

I agree with BH. The Police don't arrest people for no reason. The people you would least expect to do such a thing, are the ones that do such a thing. I am so digusted to even hear of such a crime wheather Mr. Denning did it or not. Those 2 young ladies were 2 of the sweetest girls I have ever met. They did not deserve what they got. And their family should not have to grieve the way that they are. What is the world coming to when people are murdering their acquaintances. Everyone keeps saying how he could not have not done such a thing, that he was the sweetest guy, but what about the 2 sweet young ladies that never got to live their lives. Such a shame.

Thank you Dylan. As of now the only people who know what happened are my brother, Andrew, and the two girls who were killed. so all assumptions can be dropped please. As for the facebook pictures, how many tennage boys all over the world like knives or guns? most of them. or like dylan has stated, it adds "shock factor". it DOES NOT mean they are violent or a killer. there is a story behind each one of those pictures but of course those will not be told. the pictures will just be used against him to make in look bad. for example the giant sword. he is a NERD what nerd wouldnt walk into a fantasy store, see that sword and not want a picture with it?! hell i'd take a picture with it! My brother is a good guy. One of the sweetest guys i know. He wouldnt hurt a fly. If violence was involved in a situation he was the first to leave. He was beaten up many times just because he refused to fight back.

not knowing whether Mr. Denning is guilty or not, not knowing the evidence or any details of the murders, it must be said that it has been proven before that individuals who "never could have done such a thing" in fact, have done such a thing. We all have the capacity to do things, both good and bad. And if drugs/alcohol gets in the mix (not sure if it did in this case) situations can wield out of control.

It seems there is evidence that he can in fact do something like this or they would not have arrested him at 1AM.

Andrew is a close personal friend of mine. He could never do anything like murder. He posted stuff on facebook just because our people are the "weird" kids and we do some stupid stuff like hold knives just for a little shock factor I suppose. Doesn't make him a killer.
