BILLINGS - Saturday was the big day for the Carter family of Billings.
One week ago to the day, they left their refurbished chicken coop of a home to return Saturday afternoon to a brand new, 3,400 square-foot home, courtesy the show, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Jeff Junkert Construction and thousands of volunteers.
The Carter's limo pulled up to the cheers of hundreds of supporter who came out to welcome the family home. Chants of, "Move that bus," rang through the air, until the shows, Ty Pennington gave the final command to move the tour bus blocking the family's view of their new home.
As it drove away, the Carter's reactions of screams, jumps, hugs and tears, said it all.
Those close to the family said this has been an overwhelming experience.
"There are a lot of people all over, in Billings, and every where that deserve a blessing like this and it's too bad that not everyone can have a blessing like this, but this family certainly did and the good they may be able to take from this and help others with Chiari and raise awareness about Chiari around the United States will make this blessing continue on for other people," said Steve Anvik, Lon Carter's brother-in-law.
The Carter's spend the rest of the day touring their new home and shooting scenes for the show. The Carter family episode is set to air sometime in October.
