BILLINGS - If you’re looking for weight loss techniques, perhaps keeping it down may be as simple as writing it down.

Food logging is a technique where a dieter can list each food item that is consumed during the day, as well as the amount of each item. Clinical Dietician Lindsey Diemert says the system gives valuable feedback into diet.

“I think this is a great way people can start to decide where they’re taking in a lot of their calories, and it just really makes you accountable to what you’re eating.”

Diemert says the goal is to log as closely as possible the amount of each food. Food can be weighed in a scale, counted by number, or estimated by a serving size.
