BILLINGS - Mayor Ron Tussing is preparing to leave office after four years. He decided not to seek re-election.

Tussing has been the Billings police chief and lost his bid to be public service commissioner last year. As for what is next, he said he hopes to finish the western novel he is currently writing.

"I've had over 40 years in serving the public, some of it in Nebraska and some here," said Tussing. "I think I'll take a little break from public service for a while and I'm not sure what I'm going to do but hopefully something will come along that I'll find interesting and that I'll be able to devote some energy to."

Tussing said one of the accomplishments he is most proud of during his time as mayor is his work to address homelessness.

Tussing's time serving the public did not come without some controversy. He said he hopes people know he has always had the public's best interest at heart.
