BILLINGS - All this week we are introducing you to the five Billings Mayoral candidates. Thursday, retired Billings Police Lieutenant Tom Hanel told Kulr-8 how he believes the city's budget is the top issue facing Billings.

Hanel is now a real estate broker and said he is ready to help the city council look for places to cut costs, "I'm not one to cut city services, I'm in favor of maintaining city services. I believe that all of our city departments, not just public safety, provide a high level of service and that's very important to me."

Hanel also served as the mayor of Big Timber. Voters will head to the polls in a primary held September 15th. The top two candidates will face off in the general election November 3rd.
