Schools Prep for H1N1

BILLINGS -- In less than a month, public schools across the Magic City will be swarming with students, but it's likely the swine flu will attend class as well.

"I don't think there is any question that we will have [H1N1] cases this year," said Jack Copps, superintendent of Billings Public Schools.

For that reason, the district plans on making several adjustments this semester. In fact, according to Copps, education officials at all schools -- from the West End to the Heights -- will install more hand sanitizers, instruct students to wash their hands more frequently, and inform janitors to persistently wipe down surfaces prone to germs.

In addition, Copps insists that teachers will be exceptionally observant.

"The teachers are key here," he said. "The teachers will be the ones talking with the students directly about the importance of using these kinds of preventative measures."
