MILES CITY - Two Montana wildfires have been declared 100% contained.

The Knowlton Complex burned about 7,300 acres of timber, scrub and pasture on private, state and Bureau of Land Management land about 45 miles east and south of Miles City. Information officer Duane Anderson says it was fully contained at about 8 p.m. Sunday. It was sparked by lightning Thursday night.

The Bear Gulch fire east of Townsend also was declared 100% contained Sunday. Information officer Gary Hoshide says crews will continue mopping up along the fireline over the next week and monitoring the fire area. He says the Northern Rockies Incident Management Team will transfer fire management back to the Townsend Ranger District of the Helena National Forest on Monday. The fire burned 755 acres. The cause is still under investigation.
