Story Updated: Feb 5, 2010
BILLINGS - February is National Heart Health Month, and Billings Clinic found a creative way to celebrate it Friday.
All the hospital employees wore red Friday and made a heart in the common areas to raise awareness about heart disease. Throughout the month, Billings Clinic is putting on events to teach people how to recognize or prevent the condition that is the number one killer of both men and women in the U.S.
"The very best advice for preventing heart disease is knowing what your risk factors are, and addressing the ones you can," Billings Clinic Cardiology Chair Dr. Scott Sample said. "Especially smoking or any tobacco use, cholesterol values, diabetes management, and of course your family history."
The next free heart health class in the series is on February 11th and will focus on exercise and stress reduction.
