BILLINGS - The Yellowstone County "Relay for Life" continues to break records.

First, the local chapter of the American Cancer Society beat out big cities like Denver for total funds raised within the Great West Division. Now, its received worldwide honors for 2010’s "Relay for Life" event. Yellowstone County came in 9th in the world for total money raised with more than $680,000 for cancer research. Of the top 13 Relays, the local chapter ranked 1st in dollars raised per capita.

Co-chair Claudia Baker hopes to beat that in 2011. "It is absolutely unbelievable. Our goal this year is to surpass what we did last year. We would love to see it set $700,000 but that's going to take a lot of work and we're going to do it."

The kick off event for "Relay for Life" 2011 is March 5th at West High. Teams will be able to sign up at this event. Baker said their goal is to form 200 teams by June's relay.
