BILLINGS - Tax season is just around the corner, and even though the economy is on the mend people are looking for ways to save a buck.

Households earning $49,000 or less in 2010 can save with free tax preparation. It's called VITA because it's vital to the community and available 6 days a week until April 15th. VITA volunteers are trained by the IRS and are eager to help with speedy returns.

VITA volunteer and First Interstate Bank phone consultant, Marilyn Woelffel, said, "I went in; 20 minutes I was out and got a refund. The gentleman who prepared my taxes was amazing, and this year when they asked for volunteers, I jumped on it."

Walk-ins are available at the Garfield Community Center and Parmly Billings Library. For free tax preparation information, please call (406) 254-9760.
