BILLINGS - The State of Montana welcomed 19 new American citizens at the Billings Federal Courthouse Thursday.

After a long process of applying, studying, and waiting, 19 people were granted their United States citizenship. They come from all over the world: places as close as Canada, and as far away as China, Peru, and Turkey. After the national anthem, the Pledge of Allegiance, and a brief presentation from the judge, the new citizens were handed their miniature American flags and given a hearty welcome to their new country.

"It's just a dream to actually be a citizen, and everyone is so welcoming," now U.S. citizen Lorreen Kennedy said. "It's just a fulfilled dream."

After the ceremony, the League of Women Voters waited outside to help the new Americans register to vote.
