BILLINGS - A Billings woman is using her business skills to raise money for cancer treatment and to lift the spirits of people fighting the disease.

For Billings resident, Vicki Carstens, hope can be found almost anywhere. "Hope comes in many forms. From family, faith, even in little things like just wearing it on a bag." Less than one month ago she finished her last round of breast cancer treatment. Now that she is on the other side of her journey, she says she is looking to inspire others.

She joined efforts with her niece, Debbie Schmitt, a local sales representative for Miche Bags. A new purse entitled "hope" features quotes and words inspired by breast cancer survivors. A portion of the proceeds will benefit local breast cancer patients. "As you deal with cancer or as you work with cancer patients the one common factor that everyone needs is hope." Schmitt says she will donate 10 dollars of every 'Hope' sale to the Billings Clinic Breast Cancer Foundation. "this is a golden opportunity for us to give back and to help other people. I feel passionate about people going through cancer having a hard enough time having to deal with health issues then to have to worry about some financial issues on top of it." A donation Carstens says gives patients what they need most. "there's so many things to deal with and then you add maybe financial issues to that. Its just one more thing that can take your hope away and so being able to help them financially helps restore hope."
