CROW AGENCY - Long time rancher Henry Real Bird knows horses. But Real Bird can also write, rhyme and riddle. And it's those skills that have led him to become Montana's newest poet laureate.

As the states official poet, Real Bird travels around Montana presenting his best work for others.

"That's what's in store for me; go out throughout the state and spread poetry and the art of writing."

Many of Real Bird's poems are inspired by his scenic surroundings in southeastern Montana.

"As I was coming in I was able to see the wind blow the puddles, blow ripples over the puddles and that's a beautiful thing to see."

While Real Bird won't always be Montana's poet laureate, he says he'll never lose his passion for poetry.
