BILLINGS - People from across the globe gather to honor those lost in the Battle of the Little Bighorn more than 125 years ago.

Members of the U.S. Cavalry School played Taps, lowered the American flag and laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Garryowen. Officials say the event kicks off the weekend of festivities that include the reenactment of the Battle of the Little Bighorn.

"We don't forget our soldiers and that's one thing our country has always been strong on is we remember our past, we remember our heritage, and we remember the sacrifice every soldier made," said organizer Steve Alexander.

This year members of an Irish documentary team and a freelance magazine writer from Los Angeles were on hand to document the event.
