BILLINGS - In this week's Spirit of Montana, a Roberts man honors his wife's memory and encourages others to give the gift of life.

Nine years ago Frank Ropp's wife Mary, a mother of 4, died suddenly from an aneurysm. While dealing with the news that his wife wouldn't make it, Frank made the decision to donate her organs and tissue. He says with 4 children, it wasn't an easy choice, but it was one his wife had been vocal about.

"It's rewarding and fulfilling because even though you've suffered quite a loss and it's hard to figure out the whys it's very rewarding to know that people benefit from your loss."

Mary's organs went to 9 people; 8 are still living today. Frank honored St. Vincent Healthcare with the Organ Donation Medal of Honor Thursday, for their efforts in educating the community about the importance of making their wishes known.
