BILLINGS - Every Thursday morning, for more than twenty years, KULR-8 viewers have gotten to know one Billings man during a special segment of "Today In Montana." But now, our "Perfect Pet" series partner is moving on to the next chapter in his career.

Dave Klein has spent more than twenty years bringing some of the most unique and unusual guests to the KULR-8 news set and into your living room. He's also had some unique experiences of his own along the way.

"I was once bitten while on the air, I had a puppy pee on my lap, now I don't think anyone knew that one though." With the privatization of the Billings Animal Shelter, Dave Klein will no longer be responsible for running the shelter, and therefore will no longer be the face bringing viewers the possibility of the perfect pet. "It was a show that allowed me, personally to be able to do more for the animals and it was definitely something I enjoyed," says Klein.

And though you may not see him on a regular basis, he will still be keeping busy. Dave says, with his sole position now being Animal Control Supervisor, he can better focus on the department's services to the community.

Dave originally took the job with animal control as a temporary position, but after almost thirty years of service, he says he wouldn't have it any other way. "It's just the enjoyment of dealing with people and animals that kept me around so long."

While he'll no longer be working at the shelter, he'll still be helping them in another way. Dave says through animal control, he'll continue to educate the public on the proper treatment and the understanding of animals. "Animals want to please their owner so if you allow them too, they'll make that perfect pet."

Dave says he looks forward to finishing up the transition to the new shelter management. At that time, he'll be back to patrolling the streets.
