BILLINGS - Food donations would be music to the ears of the Billings Symphony.
They are teaming up with the Billings Food Bank for a Billings Symphony Food Drive leading up to the Happy Birthday Bach concert, the night of Saturday, March 14.
The symphony is asking people attending the concert to bring non-perishable food items with them, and those unable to attend can drop food items off at the Alberta Bair box office located on 3rd Avenue North in downtown Billings.
Orchestras in all 50 states are participating in the event.
"We're doing this food drive in conjunction with the release of the movie The Soloist which comes out April 24," said Sandi Culhane, executive director of the Billings Symphony. "It's the story of a homeless man in L.A. who was a Juilliard-trained street musician whose mental illness landed him among the homeless. So, that rings in our hearts and we're participating in the food drive to make a difference within the community of Billings."
According to reports, one in eight people in the United States do not know where their next meal is coming from.
