In the Spirit of Giving

By Stephanie Domurat

BILLINGS - With the election and Halloween behind us and cooler temperatures taking hold, that means the holiday season is just around the corner.

With the current economic downturn this year, the season of thanks and giving may be a bit harder for some. But officials with the Billings Food Bank say even a little can go along way.

The annual food drive begins this weekend, collecting food for holiday meals. Officials expect to give out more than 10,000 food boxes this year saying more people are in need. Sheryle Shandy with the Billings Food Bank says even if you're on a tight budget you can still help others by volunteering your time.

"Thanksgiving is a time for us to be thankful of what we have and to realize that regardless of where we're at, there's always somebody that needs our help," says Shandy.

She says The Food Bank is most in need of turkey and ham donations. Any donations can be dropped off at all seven fire stations and at all grocery stores in Billings.
