BILLINGS - For eight years the Carlson family has shown a spooky side by decorating their house inside and out.

"It's a way for us to have fun together as a family and the kids have great input what to add and it's a time to be silly and have fun around your neighbors and you know it makes other people happy," says Michelle Carlson. Or spooked.

"Most kids are willing to come to the house there is a witch up on the porch that they're a little leery of because she does look real when its dark and they come to the door to trick or treat, but most kids find it fascinating the yard they want to look at everything and take it in."

Every year they add more to the collection and this year the inspiration came from a free organ ad. "I called right away I was just excited to call my husband to say we got a free organ and so he went and picked it up and brought it home and he completely gutted it and made it work."

It's made with pvc pipe by hand with just a little help. "He cut it all with his power tools you know that's a big thing and then he's got a motor inside that makes the keys go by themselves and there's a fog machine in there."

But not everything is together quite yet; it's only complete on Halloween night. "The werewolf over here is going to be looking like he's ready to pounce on you you've got the glow out in the cemetery and there will be fog laying in the cemetery and it's just got the more eerie effect."

So suit up in your costume and come experience the creepy crawly Carlsons'. "I want other people to enjoy it as much as we do!"

Michelle plans to take her kids trick-or-treating for a little while and then come back home where, weather permitting, she will be dressed up as a witch and will serve hot apple cider from her cauldron.

The Carlsons’ house is located at 1844 Columbine Drive in Billings.
