BILLINGS - This week marks the 100th Birthday of the Ford Model-T car. In the Spirit of Montana, a celebration was held to honor a move that changed the world. The production of the Model-T began 100 years ago and at a production rate of one car every 93 minutes Henry Ford took the United States from a world of horse and buggy, to a world on wheels.
"I bet you he was a proud person 100 years ago," says John Baber of the Yellowstone Roaring 20’s Rimrock Model-T Club.
And just born at the time was John's mother Sadie, who is the same age as the Model-T.
"100 years young yes!" says Sadie Baber.
And this lady remembers the first Model-T she saw.
"The owner of the first Model-T in the county came out to give them a ride," says John. "And I wrapped myself in my mothers skirt and I started crying and crying and crying, I didn't want to get in that time thing!" says Sadie. "So therefore nobody went for a ride that day," John laughs.
But the times have changed and so has Sadie. She enjoys riding in her son' s Model-T's any time she can.
"I think they're just beautiful, there's something about them; they’re very outstanding," says Sadie.
So the mother son pair would like to wish Henry Ford's Model-T a Happy Hundredth Birthday, "Happy birthday, thank you Henry Ford!" says John. "Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, may god bless you and keep you, happy birthday to you," Sadie sings.
