BILLINGS - Montana continues to climb in the rankings for the best places to live and as more families move to the state they may have a hard time finding a social network. In the Spirit of Montana, moms around Billings come together for support.
“I have Owen. And I have Owen too,” say two little one’s about the friends they have at play group."
“I like to go to play group because I can make new friends," says little Jade Elton.
For the kids it's play time but for the mom's it's much more. "When you work you have contact with other adults and when you become a stay at home mom that goes away," says Mom’s Club of Billings president Jenn Peter.
"Just being at home with your kids is kind of hard on you," says Mom’s Club member Maria Elton.
Now, every week Jenn and Maria have a place to go and a group to go with, which is important for more than just adult interaction. Little Jade says it's important for safety. "I have to wait for my dad to get off of work to go to the park because my mom's not big enough to like hurt strangers," says Jade.
"That's what it's all about is helping each other and the community," says Maria.
And of course there are other benefits. "I love our mom’s night out," says Jenn.
But for the kids story time is a big hit. Jenn’s son Tristan Peter loves story time because he gets to “eat snacks!"
"We just listen be quiet listen to the book," says Jade.
Then it's back to play time with an abundance of friends where Tristan likes to "eat snacks!”
The Mom's Club of Billings is holding an open house Friday, October 24th from 10:30 a.m. until noon at the Boys and Girls Club. For more information you can contact Jenn at (406) 697-6067 or momsclubofbillings@gmail.com. You can also click here for more information.
