Services provided with adoption:
It is $100.00 to adopt a pet. $50.00 of that fee will cover the cost of the animal being spayed/neutered at the Billings Animal Shelter. If for any reason this cannot be done at the Animal Shelter the new pet owner will receive a $50.00 certificate to apply toward the cost at the Veterinarian of their choice. All additional costs will be the responsibility of the new pet owner.

Dogs will receive Canine Distemper, Adenovirus Type 2, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus, Coronavirus Vaccine and Parvo testing.

Cats will receive Feline Rhinotracheitis, Celici, Panteukopenia, Chlamydia Psittaci Vaccine, and Feline Leukemia testing.

Any veterinary clinic located within Yellowstone County will provide at no cost a basic examination within the first two to three days of the adoption to insure that the animal is healthy. If the animal develops symptoms of illness within two weeks after the adoption and the owner utilized the option of the free check up within the allotted time, a refund or exchange will be granted for the adoption fee. Any veterinarian treatment authorized by the new pet owner shall be the new pet owner’s responsibility. The Billings Animal Shelter cannot reimburse for these costs.

This Billings Animal Shelter list is updated at approximately 6:30 pm nightly and lists the animals currently available for adoption at the Billings Animal Shelter. Animals released by their owners and strays that have been held the required 72 hours and have gone unclaimed or that an owner has not been located are placed for adoption. Animals displaying aggressive behavior, illness, injuries, or having behavior problems may not be made available for adoption. The City of Billings and the Billings Animal Shelter reserve the right to refuse adoptions for any reasons.

Adoptions will be granted on a first come first serve basis. If more than one person is at the Billings Animal Shelter at the time an animal becomes available a drawing will be held to decide who is to have first option of adopting the pet. Adoptions can be arranged over the phone or by e-mail, however adoptions will be first granted to those personally at the Billings Animal Shelter when an animal becomes available. If you are interested in adopting a pet pictured on this page you should come to the Billings Animal Shelter during Office Hours, interact with the pet, and see if you belong together. The City of Billings will not be responsible if an animal pictured is no longer available for adoption.
