Back to School Shots

BILLINGS - As carefree kids turn back into students, officials are urging parents not to wait until the last minute to get those back-to-school vaccinations.

Riverstone Health officials said schools require shots going into elementary school, middle school and high school to help prevent the spread of diseases. They suggest reminding children to wash their hands frequently and to cough into their elbows, not their hands.

Registered Nurse Tamalee Taylor said many parents make the same mistake every year.
"The biggest mistake is if they wait until the last minute to get them and then the lines are long so they need to take them into their health care provider and get those done," said Director of Community Health, Tamalee Taylor.

Riverstone Health will be hosting a clinic at the mall August 14 from 10 to 2 for 7th graders needing their tetanus and MMR booster shots.
