BILLINGS - With the Swine Flu pandemic in the headlines recently, many people have forgotten about the Avian Flu.

However, state and federal wildlife officials are concerned. Although Avian Influenza has not been detected in any wild bird in North America, officials still plan to test 1,400 ducks and other waterfowl for the virus this fall as part of a nationwide monitoring program.

"We looked for it hard and people were interested, but with H1N1 swine flu, it's not at the top of many peoples lists to talk about," said Bob Gibson, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks. "But it is still a concern and will continue to monitor for it."

The Avian Flu is mostly prominent in Asia, Europe and Africa.
