BILLINGS - About 20% of Americans suffer from some sort of seasonal allergies. Though summer is winding down, one Billings expert said this year's allergy season is far from over.

While most of the tree and grass pollens are settling down for the year, weeds and mold are still causing problems. Dr. Kathleen Davis with Billings Clinic said the moist spring created an unusual allergy season.

"It depends what people are sensitive to," Dr. Davis said. "Some people had great years because the plant they were most allergic to didn't far well with damper weather. We've had a lot of people who haven't has symptoms for years because the conditions were right for their allergens this year."

Davis said the high rate of construction in Billings has been causing lots of problems this year. She said disturbing the ground stirs up mold and dust. If you're around construction, Dr. Davis recommends you take an over the counter anti-histamine and frequently clean your nose.
