Billings Blood Shortage

BILLINGS - United Blood Services in Billings is running dry. Officials say they are completely out of "O Negative" blood and it'll take about 200 donors with that blood type to get their quota where it needs to be.

"O Negative" is the universal blood type so it's extremely useful in traumas and surgeries when there's no time to match the patient's type.

"This summer has been extremely difficult. As most people know who've been reading the newspaper and watching the news, there's been an increase in traumas," said Donor Recruiter Lesli Asay.

Asay says they always need donors of all blood types. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and 110 pounds.

To make a donation appointment, call 1-800-365-4450 or just stop by at 1444 Grand Avenue in Billings.
