BILLINGS - Taking a few months off during the winter can prove brutal on a person's golf game in Montana.
But dozens of golfers are keeping their game up to par with the help of simulators.
"We've got everywhere from scratch golfers to beginners," said Bill Mitchell
Men's and women's indoor golf league is held several nights during the week at Mitchell Golf in Billings.
They play nine holes on golf simulators. Each simulator has two sensors that read ball flight and speed, ball direction is measured by the spin off the screen.
"It will help me stay loose for the season next year," said golfer Karlene Lehfeldt.
"It keeps your swing going through the winter," said another golfer. "And makes a huge difference in the spring."
Besides helping to keep your golf swing in check during the winter months, league members said it is also a great social outlet.
"We're talking about our diets, talking about our families, talking about how bad we golf and how we're having a great time doing it," said golfer Lauralee Marchant.
"Oh, it's a great excuse to go out in the evenings," said golfer Joe Martin.
"There are lots of fun guys down here and we have a fun time," said veteran indoor golfer Paul Keneally.
The simulators are also used for lessons, club fittings, and open play.
If stagnant during the winter, Mitchell said it usually takes golfers about a month in the spring to get their swing feeling right.
League starts in November and runs through April.
