Golfing for a Cause

By Stephanie Domurat

BILLINGS - Two men are golfing cross-country all in the name of fighting cancer. PGA professional Craig Forney and Bill Evans are making a stop in each state to play a round of golf, and Wednesday they made their 45th stop in Billings.

Their golf tour, called "The Fifty in Fifty" began in Vermont in June and will continue until they reach Hawaii. With every golf game, they hope to move one step closer to fighting cancer. The tour raises money for Melanoma, Prostate and Breast cancer. They hope to raise awareness and call importance to early testing.

They say playing for 50 days straight can be strenuous but the cause makes it worthwhile. "What makes this really worthwhile is seeing those cancer survivors, and the people who are fighting cancer, they are such an inspiration and it is why we are doing this," says Bill Evans, Co-Founder of the Tour.

"We have met so many people along the way, and we've been meeting great researchers who are trying to find a cure. And they all say the same thing, even if we don't find a cure we are training the next generation to find a cure," says PGA professional Craig Forney.
