Ski Tips: Skis

BILLINGS - So you're skiing down the mountain but do you have the right equipment for the conditions?
In a sport that's as seasonal as golf, skiers are now purchasing specialized skis for different conditions; much like a golfer uses a driver for long shots and a putter for the green. "There are just a lot of different advantages of having different skis," said Alpine High owner Tim Hedin. Hedin says the different skis are categorized into four groups. "The fastest growing part of the sport is the twin tips right now. Specifically with the twin tips so you can land backwards and land forwards. Any given night when you watch the x-games, this is what all of those guys are using right now," said Hedin.
But if you're not one to hit the big tricks or catch some air -- an alpine type of ski could be your cup of tea and manufacturers also make women's powder skis, alpine ski's, and twin tip skis.
