Ski Tips: Avalanches

BILLINGS - Red Lodge Mountain officials say even though avalanche dangers are high they're not worried about one at their resort.
Fractures can come quick and without warning, up rooting trees and leaving a path of devastation behind. "You can get anywhere from a fracture that's five feet to a mile and half," said Ski Patroller Anne Pavlick. But large or small, don't assume avalanches only occur in back country runs, in fact most ski resorts across the country leave a warning on regularly used runs of the potential of an avalanche however; Red Lodge officials say there's only a small chance on their mountain.
