BILLINGS, MONT. – Drs. Arthur and Linda DeRosier will be honored for two decades of service to the Billings community, on Thursday, September 13, beginning at 6:00 p.m., at the Yellowstone County Club in Billings.
Dr. Arthur H. DeRosier Jr., served as president of Rocky Mountain College from April 1, 1987 through June 30, 2002. Dr. Linda Scott DeRosier continues to serve as professor of psychology at Rocky.
After a gourmet meal and a number of video tributes, the evening will culminate with the unveiling of the Arthur H. DeRosier, Jr., life-size sculpture, rendered by internationally-acclaimed Montana artist Mike Capser, a longtime friend of the DeRosiers, to honor Arthur DeRosier’s legacy, in perpetuity, for generations of students to come.
“It was with great honor that I accepted the task of creating a life-size sculpture of Dr. DeRosier,” said Mike Capser. “It is impossible to do him justice, considering both the accomplishments he has had throughout his life and knowing him as a great human being. I sculpted him in his graduation gown to symbolize his great success in preparing so many young minds for the real world. I have him holding a book, not only to show his incredible success and leadership in higher education, but to honor his life of writing.
“This sculpture will be viewed and honored for eternity and so it should be for a man that we all have so much admiration for.”
On Friday, September 14, the sculpture will be placed outside the DeRosier Educational Resource Center, on the campus of Rocky Mountain College.
Tickets to the DeRosier Tribute are $75 and may be purchased by calling Teresa Cox at 657-1443.
Serving on the DeRosier Tribute organizing committee are: Michael Gulledge, vice president-publishing for Lee Enterprises and publisher of The Billings Gazette, who also will be the emcee for the evening, and his wife, Susan; Bill and Marilyn Ballard; Todd and Erica Capser; John and Victoria Cech; Bill and Vicki Coffee; Julie and Keith Dial; Jim and Angie Gainan; Rick and Nicki Larson; Mike and Karen Mace; Dorothy Metz; and, Shelley and Larry Van Atta.
