The program matches students with participating TV stations and teams them with a mentor who works with them one-on-one throughout the internship. The program is geared to being a very hands-on learning experience. At KULR-8 the internship is very much centered on the reporting aspect of broadcast news. Students begin shadowing staff reporters to learn the systems, and by the end of the internship are often writing, reporting and presenting their own stories on air. The student's advisor from Medill makes a mid-term visit, and the mentor completes a mid-term and final evaluation.
